Six questions to ask a Wedding Transportation Company

As you plan the details for your wedding day, don’t overlook the need for transportation for your bridal party and/or your family. Consider booking your wedding transportation at least three months in advance, if not sooner, as pent up demand has created a rush of reservations. As you interview potential service providers, here are six questions to ask:

1. How long have you provided wedding transportation services?

You’ll want the company you hire to have experience in handling the bride, groom and bridal party, as well as a flawless reputation. The last thing you want on your wedding day is a hassle getting everyone to or from the ceremony. Check out their website and Google Reviews, as well as their Instagram page.

2. What types of vehicles do you have?

Ask about the model year, colors and styles of their wedding vehicles. If you’re thinking about exiting the ceremony in a vintage convertible, ask about that option in advance. And if you're providing rides for your guests or wedding party between the ceremony and where the wedding pics will be taken – or the reception site – check out the quality of their larger vehicles and ask how many people each vehicle holds. Although limousines are always an option for wedding transportation, attractive, late-model mini-coaches can be a great way for the entire wedding party to travel together between points A and B. Keep in mind that some wedding dresses and/or bridesmaid dresses might require a little more room than usual, so don’t try to squeeze too many into one vehicle!

3. What amenities do your vehicles have?

Do the vehicles have a sunroof or TVs? Will you be allowed to share a glass of champagne with your wedding party after the ceremony? Are the vintage vehicles air conditioned? Be sure to ask those questions in advance.

4. What type of insurance do you carry?

You’ll want to hire a wedding transportation company that has a stellar (accident-free) reputation, but also one that carries an umbrella insurance package. Often-times, individuals who provide car service have very limited insurance coverage so – since you may choose to have your entire bridal party traveling together on your wedding day – make sure the company you hire has adequate insurance just in case. Asking if they are members of the National Limousine Association or other group transportation company is a good idea.

5. What will the driver wear?

Since this will be your special day, you’ll want everyone involved to look “top drawer,” including your driver. Professional transportation companies insist their chauffeurs wear suits or other professional attire, but it certainly pays to ask.

6. What are your cancellation and refund policies?

Just in case your wedding date needs to change – which happened often during the pandemic – or for some reason you need to cancel, it’s best to know what their cancellation and refund policies are in advance.
